CBS just announced the first performaces that will start out "The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles" scheduled for Sunday, February 9. Not only will this night feature incredible talents such as Alicia Keys and John Legend as a duo and John Mayer and Keith Urban as a duo, but one famous duo from the past will reunite for this night only.
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, both Grammy award winners, will come together for one night only and reunite as the Eurythmics! Producers of the special have not revealed what songs the Eurythmics will be covering yet, but we have a guess...Eurythmics actually covered The Beatles' classic 'Come Together' for their 1987 album 'Savage'! The track wasn't included on the original pressing of the record but it was dusted off and included as a bonus track when the band re-released 'Savage' back in 2005:
This special broadcast is not only stacked with talented artists and uniquely paired duos, but is itself a broadcast that will mark itself in history. The show is scheduled by CBS to broadcast EXACTLY fifty years to the day, date and time of the original brodcast. The original broadcast from 1964 is one of the most historic live events in music and television history. The momentous night in 1964 marked itself as the very first appearance for the seven time Grammy-winning famous foursome on "The Ed Sullivan Show." The salute this February 9 will showcase some of today's top artists performing the best and most memorable Beatles' songs throughout history. The salute will also playback some clips and footage from the broadcast fifty years ago and various presenters will tribute the band by highlighting the historical impact the group had on music and the whole world.
